Rohan on the run

The 9th annual Reggae Marathon/Half Marathon and 10k event was held this past December in Jamaica.  In attendance was Jamaican celebrity Rohan Marley, son of the legendary Bob Marley, who ran a time of 2:54:08 at completion.  The event had a record number of over 1,000 registrants.

The marathon, dubbed as Jamaica’s premier International Marathon Event, took place along the scenic northern region of the island by the Negril coastline.  Champions of the event were Rupert Green of St. Catherine, Jamaica.  Green took home the gold in the men’s division with a time of 2:31:50, while Terri Rejimbal, of Florida USA dominated the course and emerged the female champion with a time of 3:00:56.

Several charities, local and international benefit from the Reggae Marathon including Canadian based Yellow Bird Foundation, a non-profit charitable organization whose proceeds go towards educational initiatives in various travel destinations.

Other entities included in the event are Heart Foundation of Jamaica, ; Joints in Motion who raised money for the USA Arthritis Foundations and many other charities.
